Fidyah
Fidyah is payable by people who cannot fast in Ramadan and have a valid reason for
not doing so (for instance, due to serious illness or old age.) Fidyah involves paying to
provide for another’s daily sustenance as compensation for every fast that you have
missed.
Kaffarah
Kaffarah is compensation that should be given if you deliberately miss or break a fast in
the month of Ramadan, without a valid reason. According to Islamic guidelines, if a
person misses or breaks a day of fasting unnecessarily, he or she should either fast 60
days consecutively or feed 60 people.
Trusted local partners or Sharia-compliant services oversee the process to ensure
proper distribution and intention. This practice not only fulfills a religious obligation but
also supports pilgrims, locals, and the underserved in these sacred cities.
Where Will My Fidyah/Kaffarah Go? |
Your Fidyah and Kaffarah will go directly to those most in need, amongst the pilgrims who have come from third-world countries and the underprivileged living in Makkah and Madinah. Unfortunately, these pilgrims struggle to fulfil their essential needs on the blessed journey due to considerable financial difficulty. Your payment will greatly aid these underprivileged pilgrims.
